Mary Tudor

(1516-1558)

By: Micole Canlas

I am doing a biography on Mary Tudor but she is better known as Bloody Mary.  Mary was born at February 18, 1516.

Mary was a healthy baby. Her mother, Queen Katherine of Aragon was very proud of her baby but King Henry VIII, her

Father wasn’t.  Mary’s dad wanted a son because he wanted the Tudor family to keep the royal thrown.

Mary’s had great education. She was a very smart girl because she had a great amount of tutors that taught her

many things that she needed to learn on her age.  She learned how to ride a horse, sew embroidery, and natural musical talents. Mary also learned French. She spoke French as if it was her natural language.

By the time Mary was a teenager, Mary had six step  mothers. All of her step mothers hated her. Mary’s dad tried marrying as much women as he could because he wanted a son. Every time he almost got a son the baby would die after a few days. A lot of people believed that King Henry VIII never got a son because he committed adultery when he was married to Queen Katherine of Aragon, Mary’s mom.

Mary married Prince Philip Hapsburg of Spain. They were married in Winchester Cathedral on July 25.  Mary was older than Philip. Mary loved Philip very much and Philip couldn’t love Mary as much as he was loved. Many people didn’t like the idea that Mary married Philip because England was against Spain.

On March 1558 Mary knew it was near the end. She dreamt of having many children running around and giving her comfort. On November 1558 Mary died peacefully on her bed while she was asleep. Many people remembered her. She did not kill anybody, she was just a hated queen because she married a Spanish man.
